Chicago doesn’t have the reputation of a London or San Francisco as being a great gig city, but it should. If you have ever been there with a band, you know what I mean. Last night, Inexplicable 2002 added the latest chapter, a blistering performance before a packed Metro, truly one of the great live rooms in the world. Roger, who was suffering from a cold, added some new guitar dimensions to his vast repertoire and the band hit the stage blazing. Luminaries in attendance included Quincy’s notorious Spring brothers and we were treated to a command performance in the pit from Phil-in-Phlash, along with everyone from a rumored Nash Kato to Matt Sweeny of Zwan, with the full compliment of Chicago media. Bob Weston was in fine form in his adopted hometown, and the band offered some discourse about the recent midterm elections. We enjoyed the hot dogs across the street and were treated to an insane helicopter drop upon our departure.
